pintamalasaña

El pasado 23 de Abril, Laura y yo tuvimos la suerte de participar en la edición de este año de Pintamalasaña.

Presentamos un boceto y fuimos seleccionadas para pintar un elemento del barrio de Malasaña durante la jornada de ese domingo.
Nuestra propuesta era experimentar con diferentes materiales para estamparlos sobre la puerta y crear formas y texturas de Malasaña (y de Madrid). Hicimos referencias a cosas míticas, como Manuela Malasaña o El Penta, y fue precisamente la puerta de ese bar la que nos tocó pintar :D

Ha sido una experiencia genial así que seguro que el año que viene repetimos!

The last 23rd of April, Laura and me had the pleasure to participate in the second edition of Pintamalasaña (Paint-Malasaña, which is a neighbourhood from Madrid).

Our idea was selected and the organization gave us the chance to paint the legendary El Penta's door, which is a famous bar because there sang a lot of well-known spanish songwriters.

We used different materials to stamp or print them on the door surface creating a kind of a plane of Malasaña. 

It has been a great experience so surely we repeat next year!

Este fin de semana, Laura y yo estuvimos pintando un mural en Zarza de Granadilla (Cáceres, Extremadura) dentro de una nueva iniciativa llamada "Crearte". Desde hacía mucho tiempo queríamos hacer algo juntas y este fue el proyecto perfecto.

Nuestra obra se titula "Sombras de Zarza" y aquí va una pequeña explicación: quisimos traer a esta pared un trocito de toda la naturaleza que rodea el pueblo y mediante las sombras de los árboles reflejar las inquietudes de todos sus habitantes, pues Zarza es un pueblo especial en el que conviven muchos artistas como pintores, escultores, fotógrafos o poetas.


Muchas gracias a toda la organización, a todos los zarceños por el trato tan bueno que hemos recibido y a nuestros amigos por habernos ayudado a dar brochazos.

Ha sido una experiencia genial que esperamos poder revivir el año que viene!

Last weekend, my friend Laura and I were painting a mural in the village Zarza de Granadilla (Cáceres, Extremadura). Our painting was included in a new festival called "Crearte". 

Our work is called "Zarza's shadows" and here is a short explanation: we wanted to take the nature into the village and the tree shadows represent the different artistic professions of the population, because Zarza is a special village with a lot of painters, sculptors, photographers and poets.

Thank you very much to the organization, to all the people for the good manner we have received and to all our friends to help us to paint.

It has been a great experience and we hope to live it again next year!

Durante los días 7, 8 y 9 de Junio se celebró la 5ª edición de Galería Urbana, un proyecto que realizamos el colectivo Lemarte y la Asociación de Vecinos ZOES que consiste en una convocatoria donde jóvenes artistas presentan su idea para pintar puertas de garaje como si fueran lienzos gigantes.

Los seleccionados pintan los garajes asignados por todo el barrio y al final se dan premios a los tres "mejores" elegidos por un jurado.

Sin duda es uno de los mejores proyectos en los que participo, pues empezó siendo una idea que no sabíamos cómo llevar a cabo y hoy en día, después de cuatro años, el barrio del Oeste de Salamanca ha cambiado cultural, social y económicamente gracias al impulso de sacar el arte a la calle.

During the 7th, 8th and 9th of June it has placed the fifth edition of the Urban Gallery, a project created by Lemarte collective (María and me) and ZOES (a neighbourhood association). It consists in a contest where young artists send us their sketches and ideas to paint on a garage. We select some of them and they paint the allocate garages in the neighbourhood.

Without a doubt, this is one of the best project I participate because it's the perfect example to show the power of art. Four years ago we didn't know how it was going to work but nowadays the neighbourhood has changed culturally, socially and economically.
